From paper to your gradebook in three steps
No setup and no training. If you can take a photo, you can use GradeCues.
- Step 1
Snap the key, scan the work
Take a photo of the answer key or rubric, then scan the whole class’s work in one pass, or upload a PDF. GradeCues reads the questions, splits the pages by student and matches each name to your roster.
- Step 2
Review and approve
Every student gets a drafted score and feedback. Adjust anything with a tap, then approve and move to the next.
- Step 3
Export and hand back
Download a gradebook CSV and print a feedback sheet for every student, ready to hand out.
Your phone is the scanner
Get the GradeCues app for iPhone and Android. Scan student work wherever you are, then review on your phone or on the web.
- Scan a class set in one pass. The camera finds each page’s edges and straightens it as you go.
- Keep scanning offline. Pages upload as soon as you’re back online.
- Know when grades are ready. Get a notification when a batch is ready to review.
- Pick up anywhere. Your classes, rosters and grades are the same on your phone and on the web.

AI drafts. You decide.
GradeCues never grades behind your back. It tells you when it isn’t sure, so a smudged answer never turns into a silent wrong grade.
- Nothing reaches a student until you approve it. Every score and comment is a draft.
- Doubt goes to the top. Hard-to-read answers and judgement calls are flagged, next to the student’s page.
- Feedback in your voice. Each student gets “What you did well” and a “Next step” you can edit before it prints.
- Multiple choice
- Short answer
- Math with working
- Rubric-graded writing
- Handwritten or typed
- K–12

Questions teachers ask
Does it read handwriting?
Yes. GradeCues reads handwritten and typed work. When an answer is hard to read, it flags it for you instead of guessing, and shows you the student’s page right next to the score.
Do I need to set up a roster first?
No. Upload a roster if you have one, as a spreadsheet or a photo of a printed list. If you don’t, GradeCues suggests students from the names on the work you scan, and you confirm them.
What if the AI gets a grade wrong?
Every grade is a draft until you approve it. Change any score with a tap. Items GradeCues is unsure about are highlighted so you look at those first.
What kinds of work can it grade?
Multiple choice, short answer, math with working and rubric-graded writing, from kindergarten to 12th grade. It works best with an answer key or rubric. Without one, it grades from subject knowledge and marks those grades as lower confidence.
Where is student data stored?
In the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest. Student work is never used to train AI, and you can delete it at any time.
What happens when my free credit runs out?
Top up with $10, $20, $50 or $100 whenever you need more, or turn on auto top-up so grading never stops halfway through a batch. There is no subscription and credits never expire. You only add a card when you first top up.
